This policy explains what personal data Maris Marine Bunker collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have. Any question about it can be sent to info@marisbunker.com.

1.Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data that you provide to us directly, and a limited amount of technical data collected automatically when you visit this website.

Data you provide may include your name, company, job title, email address, telephone number, postal address and any other detail you choose to include when you contact us about a bunker enquiry or supply.

Data collected automatically may include your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, the pages you view and the dates and times of your visits, together with information gathered through cookies and similar technologies.

Where you give us personal data relating to another person, for example a colleague, a vessel operator or a counterparty to a supply, you confirm that you are entitled to provide it and that the individual concerned has been informed of how it will be used.

2.How We Use Data

We use personal data to:

  • respond to your enquiries and prepare quotations for bunker fuel supply;
  • arrange, perform and administer supplies, including deliveries at Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Sharjah;
  • manage our relationship with you as a customer, supplier or business contact;
  • carry out credit, sanctions and compliance checks before entering into a transaction;
  • issue and process invoices and payments, and recover sums due to us;
  • keep the records we are required to keep by law, including tax and accounting records;
  • operate, maintain and improve this website and keep it secure;
  • send you operational or commercial information where you have asked for it or where we are otherwise permitted to do so; and
  • establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision making that produces legal effects concerning you.

3.Disclosure of Information

We may disclose personal data to:

  • our employees and officers who need it in order to carry out their duties;
  • barge operators, terminals, surveyors, agents and other service providers engaged in connection with a supply;
  • our professional advisers, including lawyers, auditors, insurers and bankers;
  • providers of information technology, hosting, email and website analytics services who process data on our instructions;
  • a purchaser or prospective purchaser of our business or assets; and
  • courts, regulators, port authorities and law enforcement agencies, where we are required to do so by law or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights.

We require anyone who processes personal data on our behalf to keep it secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.

4.Legal Basis for Processing

Where data protection law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • performance of a contract with you, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract;
  • compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject;
  • our legitimate interests in operating, promoting and protecting our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms; and
  • your consent, where we have asked for it, which you may withdraw at any time.

5.Data Protection

We maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage. Access is limited to those who need it in order to do their work.

No transmission of information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Any transmission is at your own risk, and once we receive your data we apply the safeguards described above.

6.Children’s Privacy

This website is directed at businesses and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.

If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@marisbunker.com and we will delete it.

7.Third Party Websites

This website may contain links to third party websites. We provide those links for convenience only.

We do not control those websites and we are not responsible for their content or for their privacy practices. Please read the privacy policy of any website you visit through a link from this one.

8.Notice for Residents of the EEA and the United Kingdom

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation or the UK GDPR as applicable.

We are established in the United Arab Emirates, so personal data you provide to us will be transferred to and stored outside the EEA and the United Kingdom. Where we make such a transfer we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection, including the use of standard contractual clauses where these are required.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. We would ask you to contact us first at info@marisbunker.com so that we have the opportunity to resolve the matter.

9.Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy legal, accounting, tax and reporting requirements and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Records relating to a supply are normally retained for the period required by applicable law and by the limitation periods that apply to claims arising from it. Enquiries that do not lead to a transaction are held for a shorter period and then deleted.

10.Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:

  • give you access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • delete data where there is no good reason for us to continue holding it;
  • restrict or object to our processing of your data;
  • provide your data to you or to another controller in a portable format; and
  • withdraw your consent, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info@marisbunker.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

11.Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date shown at the top records when it was last updated.

Where a change is significant we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
